In the Ashtakavarga system, each planet (excluding Rahu, Ketu Land the extra-Saturnian planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) is considered to be casting a benefic influence on certain rashis counted with respect to its own Rashi position in the natal chart as well as with respect to the position of other planets. Each benefic influence is marked as 1′ and the rest are marked as ‘0.

General Principles Applicable to Ashtakavarga figures:

1. The total of Sarvashtaka bindus is 337 distributed over all the 12 signs. Therefore, the average that a sign would have is 28 (337/12). The most important rule, thus, is that any house orb sign associated with bindus above 28 gives auspicious results. Higher the bindus, better the results. In practice, however, houses having 25 to 30 bindus are considered average. Positive results pertaining to the house will manifest increasingly fuller if the house is associated with more than 30 bindus and vice versa.

2. For the period a malefic transits over a house containing less than 21 bindus the annihilation of the signifñications of that house may be anticipated. Similarly whenever a house Containing More than 30 bindus is traversed by the planet, the favourable results pertaining to that house may be predicted.

3. Maximum Bhinnashtaka bindus a planet can have in a sign are 8 and minimum is 0, Therefore 4 is the average,which results are good and below which results are bad. When a planet transits over a sign having the following number of bindus in its own Bhinnashtakavarga.

5. How to Compare and Analyze Bindu’s:

1. If the 11th house has more bindus than the 10th house; 12th house has less than 11th; Lagna has more than 12th and 2nd has more than 12th, the native enjoys all material happiness. Out of these comparisons the most popular is the comparison between the bindus of the 10th and the 11th houses.

2. If Seventh House bindus are higher, Spouse is supposed to be dominated, Similarly if 7th house having very low bindus it means, some compromise & demerit toward the attributes of the 7th house. So mostly in this comparison, bindus are not having far difference is considered good.
